May 12, 2010 Meeting Minutes
First, thank you to all the people that participated in the river Clean-up. To clean up our newly
adopted section of the San Tomas Creek way there were thirteen volunteers. Thank you to
Adam, Chris, Cayla, Romola, Brian, Chuck, Eric, Monica, Erin, Tony, Ingrid and Elizabeth.
Together we have made a difference.   Our group of volunteers picked up 165 pounds of
trash. There were some interesting items such as a Harley Davidson chain guard, some bike
tires and a hypodermic needle.

The event was held on Saturday, May 15 and we were organized through the Santa Clara
Valley Water District. There were 1,068 people in groups ranging in size from 3 to 110
volunteers that participated in Santa Clara County. Together we cleaned up 66.5 miles of
rivers and waterways. A total of 29,098 pounds of trash and 6,394 pounds of recycling was
picked up and disposed of properly.

Some of the interesting items reported found throughout the county during the clean-up were:
a novel, a futon, downspout, fire extinguishers, computer monitors, tires, a spear, medicine
ball, chalk board easel, comforter, car seat, microwave ovens, shopping carts, tent, sleeping
bag, chairs, circuit board, garbage disposal, duck decoy, BBQ, car axle, bike wheel, scooter,
construction debris, golf balls, yield sign, air gun, dog house, pool cover, beaded curtains,
Coach purse, lamp, road markers, a packed suitcase, dentures, Harley Chain guard (that was
our group!!), recycling bins, a bed, a bicycle, brake cables, shoes, fishing line, a ladder, TV
and a syringe inside a vodka bottle.

Thank you again to all who participated and if you want to come out join us for lots of fun and
